Terridar Builders Inc.has always embraced new technologies. In 1992, Terridar started using Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF’s) in some of its custom homes. In 1993, Terridar installed its first Blue Maxx foundation in the small hamlet of Brightside; much to the delight of the homeowner! Over the years, Blue Maxx made many refinements to its system, becoming the industry standard by which all other ICF forms guage themselves. Today, Blue Maxx is known as Arrx Building Products. Legalett...
Terridar Builders Inc. first became involved with Legalett in 1999. Looking for an alternative to conventional foundation techniques in potentionally unfavourable soil conditions, the merits of Legalett were obvious. A structural slab and an incredibly efficient heating system all in one, the Legalett slab was the perfect fit for the expansion to the Sam Jakes Inn, in Merrickville. Legalett is a system of insulation, reinforcement, warm air pipes and cast-in-place furnaces that use the principals of thermal mass to provide an absolutely stable heating medium, even when subjected to power outages. The system, once heated, loses heat very slowly. After the 1998 Ice Storm, this is a feature that many people would appreciate.
